thoughts worth keeping

for a while i've been meaning to create a safe place for me to keep thoughts and insights i think are worth keeping. learnings, being big or small, that i would hate to forget, and could come in handy at some future moment.

i'm writing these down for myself, but heck, who knows, could be nice if others find these thoughts useful too.

spelling it out

A great piece of advice I got from Jeremy during our demo research project: "As consultants, you write EVERYTHING for your client". True. Found it very useful in other contexts as well.

About Me

tal shay: chicago, United States; I get a kick out of helping people achieve their goals in a satisfying way (what ever that might mean in their case). I strive to design to impact people's lives in a positive way.

I came to the Institute of Design to get a Masters of Design, after several years of work, where I found I needed more tools and methods to help me be better at my job. Previously I worked as an interaction designer and user-interface designer in Israel.

When I graduate from the Institute of Design (spring 2010), equipped with these in my arsenal, I also plan to know how to deal with a larger scale of complex problems and systems, and be able to design for other mediums and domains beyond products that have a screen.

I believe good people focused design rests on three pillars: people, technology and design. I've made strides in learning about the first two; now it's time to enhance my knowledge and understanding of design.
